Why should I turn in hours that I volunteer for Calvert High?
The reporting and recording of volunteer hours may seem like busy work or a bother, but it has real value. As we keep an accurate account of our CHS hours:
1. We increase our ability to have on-
2. It also helps locate and identify volunteers for specific types of service.
3. Our records help administrators demonstrate the parent partnerships at Calvert High that generate a feeling of community commitment to education.
4. Applying for or evaluation for Grants
5. Keeping a record of volunteer hours can directly benefit YOU when returning to the work force as a valued record of community involvement, responsibility, and dedication.
6. Most important of all, the number of hours given by PTA member volunteers and others helps PTA to speak with a louder and more effective voice to legislators and other decision makers. Those with the influence to make changes and reforms in education cannot ignore the great ownership and proper motivation volunteers have in the welfare of students.
Any unpaid time, whether at the school or away, that you volunteer for CHS can be turned in as Volunteer Hours.

Mrs. Garner is a dependable and hardworking person who gives willingly of her time
to support our school. It is not uncommon that to see Mrs. Garner volunteering her
time to assist with our band, drama, and chorus programs. As the president of the
band boosters and drama parent group, she actively supports our organizations by
working with our parents, staff and students to organize fundraising efforts, assist
with productions and programs, and generate additional parental involvement. She
took the leadership positions as president of band and drama boosters when no one
else did. From sets, to shout outs, to toting marching band equipment, Mrs. Garner
does it all. Principal Susan Johnson has said, “If you ask anyone, they will tell
you that Mrs. Garner is very instrumental in the successes of our programs through
parental support and she sees the benefits of parents coming together for a common
cause.” Mrs. Garner is down to earth, straight-
